Harry Connick, Jr. is a pianist, singer, actor, and tv host. He is best known for his extensive contributions as a jazz musician. "With his swinging piano skills and warm baritone vocals, Harry Connick, Jr. helped bring New Orleans stride, jazz, and traditional pop back into the mainstream, an achievement that brought him celebrity and fame beyond music," Matt Collar wrote. He is a Grammy and Emmy Award winner and has received Tony nominations for his Broadway work. With 16 million sales, he is among the top-selling male artists. More number-one albums have been awarded to him than any other jazz artist in US history, including seven top 20 albums.
A music prodigy, he was already playing with an orchestra at the age of 9. His skill was further honed as he grew older, studying at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. His first taste of fame happened when his song became the soundtrack of the 1989 movie "When Harry Met Sally." He earned his first Grammy win for the soundtrack. His music broadened during the 90s, dabbling in the funk genre. Later on, he went back to recording jazz. In the early 2000s, he debuted on Broadway and was well-received there.
