“”Cats” is full of catchy pop tunes many of us have known for decades…As a wistful recollection, “Cats” is guaranteed to leave you feline groovy” – NBC New York
Best known for the iconic song “Memory,” which has now become a song standard, “Cats,” came about after Andrew Lloyd Webber read the “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats” and had the idea to create a musical. The musical follows an unusual structure, with each of the characters being introduced in separate, highly memorable songs. With most of the focus on the set, outfits, incredible choreography and music over story, Cats will immerse you in a strange world of alleyways and catfights, at times beautiful and at times dark, familiar and alien all at once.
“Best of all is the refreshed choreography by Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler (“Hamilton”) who has replaced Gillian Lynne’s compilation of stock moves with variety and invention… the taffy-jointed dancers have some of the angular, sudden, inexplicable moves of catliness” – Newsday
First opened on the West End in 1981, Cats set new longest-running records with both its London and Broadway productions, and won a series of awards, including the Laurence Olivier Awards and Tony Award for Best Musical. Today, it maintains its legacy as one of the longest-standing and most-adored musicals of all time.
“It’s kitschy and fun, sometimes quite touching, and marvelously well done. It’ll likely be very nostalgic for anyone who saw the show before, and, I’m guessing, a treat for people who haven’t…”Cats” is a one-of-a-kind entertainment” – NorthJersey.com
